How I got here
Every business has a journey
BlackHat Design Co. is an extension of Captivated Notary Marketing Solutions. After a successful year of working almost exclusively with independent notary business owners nationwide, I decided to expand my business and cater to a larger client demographic.
I saw an opportunity to work with more businesses and organizations but needed a way to signal that I was a graphic designer and my services are available outside of that specific niche.

Meet The Creator
Quentin "Q" Smith
Creative Director
I was born in Tampa, Florida, and spent my early years in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area, where I nurtured a passion for drawing cartoon characters and sports figures. My childhood dream was to become a computer animator and create “cool” cartoons. At the turn of the millennium, my family relocated to Philadelphia, where I pursued higher education through high school and college.
I ventured into the world of technology as a Network Engineer with Computer Sciences Corporation but later discovered the field of electronic medical records and consulting, becoming an EMR Software Implementation Specialist, working nationwide to transform healthcare digitally.
The responsibilities of fatherhood brought me back to a conventional work life, and I dedicated myself to various roles at Albert Einstein Hospital in Philadelphia, ultimately becoming a Clinical Informatics Specialist.
My career has been marked by creative problem-solving, whether it’s crafting mass email campaigns, designing signage, or developing event themes. This journey has equipped me with a unique perspective on how to effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.
In response to family obligations and changing circumstances, I embraced entrepreneurship, giving birth to Q The Notary and Captivated Notary Marketing Solutions, which laid the foundation for BlackHat Design Co.
My greatest joys are the moments shared with my two children, Kamden and Bella. When not fulfilling adult responsibilities, I can be found with my family, cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles, enjoying the beach or a boat ride. In quiet moments, I continue to hone my creative skills, ensuring that I can offer valuable expertise to my partners.
